Linking your Aadhaar to your bank account via the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) mapper is essential if you want to receive Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) like gas subsidies or government scholarships.
There are three primary ways to do this online:
1. Using the NPCI "BASE" Platform (Recommended)
NPCI has a self-service portal called the Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE).
-
Step 1: Visit the Link https://www.npci.org.in/
-
Step 2: Click on the 'Consumer' tab on the homepage.
-
Step 3: Select 'Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE)'.
-
Step 4: From the dropdown, select 'Aadhaar Seeding'.
-
Step 5:Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, select your bank name, and verify the request using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
2. Through Your Bank's Net Banking or App
Most major banks (SBI, ICICI, HDFC, Indian Bank, etc.) allow you to link Aadhaar directly for NPCI mapping.
-
Login: Sign in to your Bank’s Mobile App or Net Banking portal.
-
Navigate: Look for sections titled 'Services', 'Aadhaar Seeding', or 'Account Settings'.
-
Submit: Enter your Aadhaar number and choose the option that says "I want to map this account for NPCI/DBT benefits.
-
Verify: Complete the process via the OTP sent to your registered mobile .
3. How to Check Your Current Status
If you aren't sure which bank is currently linked to the NPCI mapper, you can check instantly:
-
UIDAI Website: Go to the official UIDAI portal, click on 'Aadhaar Services', then 'Bank Seeding Status'.
-
USSD Code: Dial *99*99*1# from your registered mobile number and enter your Aadhaar number to see the mapped bank name.
Note:
1. The NPCI mapper only allows one bank account to be linked at a time for DBT benefits. If you seed a new account, it will automatically replace the previous one.
